To become a registered nurse in Australia from India, candidates must follow the Outcome-Based Assessment (OBA) pathway, overseen by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). The process begins with creating an account on the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) portal and submitting documents, including a recognized nursing degree, valid license, proof of English proficiency (IELTS/OET), and work experience. Once assessed, eligible nurses must pass the NCLEX-RN exam followed by the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) in Australia. After clearing both assessments, candidates receive AHPRA registration, enabling them to work legally. They can then apply for a skilled migration visa (Subclass 189, 190, or 491) to secure employment in Australia’s healthcare sector.
